Mental Health Training for Ohio Coaches

PublicSchoolWORKS has been approved by the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services as a provider of Mental Health training for Coaches. Effective October 3, 2023, Ohio House Bill 33 requires all athletic coaches to complete an approved mental health training course (Ohio Revised Code 3313.5318). Any individual applying for or renewing their pupil activity permit must submit a certificate of completion to the Office of Educator Licensure and Effectiveness with their application.

PSW’s mental health training is a 2-course curriculum, and both certificates must be shown to the State Board of Education to verify an applicant has fully completed PublicSchoolWORKS’ mental health training:

1. Trauma Informed Care and Response AND

2. ORC 3319.073 Module 4 of 5: Prevention of Mental, Emotional and Behavioral Disorders in Students OR Mental, Emotional and Behavioral Disorders in Students

A third course, also approved by the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services’ is recommended: ORC 3319.073 Module 2 of 5 Depression and Suicide Prevention. To get started, click the link below to learn more about our online teacher & staff compliance training.
